O general das Força Armadas e político do MPLA, Higino Carneiro, negou recentemente falar sobre sua pretensão a candidatar-se à presidente da República de Angola e esclareceu que quaisquer intenções que tiver neste sentido o fará em fórum próprio.

Respondendo a uma questão sobre os rumores de que será um dos candidatos a Presidente da República de Angola nas eleições de 2027, Higino Carneiro, disse não estar no lugar certo para abordar sobre o assunto que qualquer pretensão que tenha nesse sentido há-de dizer em fórum próprio e refugiou-se mostrando apenas o seu apoio incondicional ao Presidente João Lourenço.

“João Lourenço está a cumprir o seu mandato, o seu papel, é o meu Presidente e de todos os angolanos, aliás nós temos uma relação extraordinária além de termos sido colegas. É minha função neste momento auxiliá-lo, prestar todo apoio que seja necessário, para que ele possa continuar a desempenhar o seu papel”, disse.

Questionado de igual modo sobre uma suposta candidatura a presidente do MPLA, o político que disse continuar disponível para desempenhar qualquer função ou responsabilidade dentro do partido, limitou-se, igualmente, a falar sobre o assunto, reiterando que “qualquer discussão a volta da minha suposta candidatura ao partido eu falo-hei em local próprio, o MPLA tem estatuto tem regulamento, e eu como, sou uma pessoa disciplinada e membro da direcção do partido, se este tema se colocar, naturalmente, vai ser dentro daquele fórum que eu vou abordar”, refutou.

“Como político estou disponível, estive muitos anos na governação, também no parlamento, terminei o meu mandato como vice-presidente do Parlamento angolano, da Assembleia Nacional. E espero apenas é que o Presidente da República perceba que eu estou disponível e em condições de apoiá-lo, ou em algum dos órgãos que eventualmente ele considere ser necessário”, assegurou.

Disse ainda que guarda recordações” extraordinárias” da sua vida de militar, apesar de nunca pensar sê-lo “mas acabei por ser um grande militar, sem desprimor a ninguém, eu acho que como militar cumpri o meu papel”.
